Please join us in congratulating Tracy Wood for receiving the Community Service Recognition Award for Outstanding Community Contributor from the District of Muskoka on October 17th, 2018.

Tracy Wood is the Senior Coordinator of Community Programs, responsible for Youth Trustee Programs across Simcoe and Muskoka, and the Rural and Remote Homeless Partnering Strategy in Muskoka.

“Tracy Wood has delivered outstanding service to hundreds of the too often ignored Muskoka residents who struggle with poverty, isolation, grief, substance use, and overwhelming emotional challenges. She is an advocate and a mentor for parentless and homeless youth across the Muskoka region. Her winning personality helped build bridges and advance partnerships in Muskoka. Most who work with vulnerable populations in the region have met her because she is everywhere where people come together to create positive change in Muskoka. I can not think of a more worthy recipient than you Tracy. Thank you for your near decade of service to Elizabeth Fry Society Simcoe County, soon to be Elizabeth Fry Society Simcoe Muskoka. Another achievement of our organization that would not be possible if not for you.”

Ongoing Campaign:

The Elizabeth Fry Society of Simcoe County is excited to launch its 2nd Annual fundraising campaign 100 Women Who Care About Women

With a goal of raising $10,000 for shelter improvements; and new dressers and beds at Joyce Kope House, our 27-bed homeless shelter and halfway house for women in Barrie.

How It Works: We are seeking 10 Trailblazing Women who will each recruit 10 Women Who Care About Women to donate $100. If 100 women donate $100 each we will reach our goal of $10,000.

Prisoner's Justice Day 2018 save the date

Thank you to our volunteers and those who donated to “Growing Gardens for Better Tomorrows” on Thursday May 24th, including: Cottage Canoe Restaurant, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Barrie, Bradford Greenhouses, and the many community members who donated their time and resources to the initiative. A huge thank you goes out to women residing in the house who participated and ‘got their hands dirty’ helping Joyce Kope House build better tomorrows.
