They died because they were women.
December 6th in Canada is acknowledged as the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. On this day we observe and are reminded of the 1989 murders of 14 women at l’École Polytechnique de Montréal.
December 6th is also an opportunity to reflect on and acknowledge all those who have been a victim of and are experience gender-based violence across Canada.
